Showdown at the Landmark Dobie Theatre in Austin, TX
Austin, TX (May 4, 2009) - Not Forgotten opened last weekend in Austin, Texas, at the Landmark Dobie Theatre to stunning success! With several of its showings sold out, the film surpassed its competition in the Dobie Theatre complex. As a matter of fact, Not Forgotten's final figures for the weekend more than double the combined box office of the other three movies playing at the complex: X-Men Originals: Wolverine, Ghost of Girlfriends Past, and Adventureland. But most impressively, Not Forgotten more than tripled the performance of the number one current worldwide box-office hit, X-Men Originals: Wolverine, in its opening weekend at the Dobie. So in one theater in Austin, Texas, David beat Goliath, again.
Want to know why Not Forgotten beat Wolverine to a pulp? Come see it on opening weekend, May 15 thru 17, in Los Angeles (Hollywood's Mann Chinese 6 & van Nuys' Mann Plant 16) or Phoenix, AZ ( AMC Deer Valley).
Not Forgotten has garnered superb reviews to date, and the Austin press continued this trend. Here's a sample quotes from the Austin American- Statesman (an equivalent of the LA Times in that city); The Austin Chronicle (equivalent of the LA Weekly); and The Daily Texan (the student newspaper of the University of Texas):

- Not Forgotten starts out as a simple case of child abduction but turns into something much more ...as the secrets pile up, [it] turns into a full-blown thriller involving Mexican drugs and prostitutes as well as the mysterious cult of La Santa Muerte. Director Dror Soref keeps building the suspense by cutting to scenes from the past and revealing clues about where the story is headed ...Excellent.
-Charles Ealy, Austin American-Statesman - Hail the U.S.-Mexico border film that uses its setting to explore issues other than the porousness of personal and cultural identity. Not Forgotten presents a fascinating microcosm... [in a] tightly wound mystery that gradually reveals itself.
-Marjorie Baumgarten, The Austin Chronicle - Not Forgotten is not a typical crime thriller. Plunging into the mysteries of the occult on the Texas-Mexico border, it pulls the audience into a world of seedy streets, whorehouses and death-worshipping rituals ...[Simon] Baker carries the film with his portrayal of a man leading a troubled double life. With the kind of story that keeps you constantly guessing, Not Forgotten is a truly unconventional revenge tale ...the movie is worth watching for the ending and lead-up alone.
-Priscilla Totiyapungprasert, The Daily Texan
